As a responsible employer, MMI Holdings is subject to the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993. OHS is governed by the group’s health and safety policy, in which all emergency procedures, employee rights and responsibilities, as well as all OHS-related roles are clearly defined. All MMI employees are covered by the health and safety policy.
Employees volunteer for the OHS positions within the company and are appointed and trained to perform key functions: health and safety representatives advise and inform occupants of safety procedures and policies, conduct regular inspections and assist with emergency evacuations. Some employees are trained in firefighting level 1, emergency evacuation procedures and first aid level 1. Where possible, training is arranged at all the branches.
